You will also get a chance to see Cuba's lively capital from a bird's eye view, admire the unique landscapes in the Viñales Valley, go snorkeling and diving in Playa Larga and explore the charming city of Trinidad. After this varied and fascinating roundtrip, where you will stay with Cuban families in their private homes, you will have the option to extend your trip to visit one of the magnificent beaches that the island has to offer.


Day 1: Arrival Havana 

Reception at the airport in Havana and transfer to the casa particular. Dinner at own expense.

Day 2: Over the rooftops of Havana 

After breakfast enjoy a special city tour of the old town. You will get to see the most beautiful sites in the city from a bird’s-eye view. We will begin with a drive to the other side of the bay for a panoramic view of Havana´s old town. At the famous Christ statue you will be able to take the first of many beautiful pictures that the day will surely provide. Next, we will cross the bay on the ferry ‘Lancha de Regla’ which is mostly used by locals. This is where the sightseeing walking tour through the historical city begins. In addition to outstanding photo opportunities, you will gain insights into the history of colonial times and the current Cuban way of life. We will visit rooftops which will all provide something special including: a 360 - degree view of the city, a course on the art of preparing Cuban cocktails and an introductory course to Cuban salsa rhythms. Along the way, there will be lunch in a local paladar. In the evening, you will have the chance to prove that you learnt something by going dancing in a local salsa club. Depending on the weather, salsa can be enjoyed under the stars in the famous “1830” along the Malecón promenade or in the legendary Hotel Florida.

Day 3: Nostalgic Wheels - Havana on the Road

Experience how Cubans get around Havana in style. Don’t forget to bring your camera along for this tour through the world's largest open-air museum of vintage cars. Ride in a classic American car through the modern neighborhood of Vedado then through Miramar via Quinta Avenida, along the iconic Malecón all the way to Cementerio Colón and Plaza de la Revolucion. Visit a workshop where the famous Cuban vintage cars are restored. During the tour of the workshop, guides will explain the process of restoring these iconic cars. Lunch will be in a Paladar in Vedado, e.g. Paladar "Decameron". Afterwards, return to your accommodation in one of Havana’s famous cocotaxis. The afternoon will be free for leisure activities.

Optional: Tropicana - Paradise under the stars

Experience a cross-section of Cuban musical history in the open-air Tropicana gardens. There will be a live orchestra and over 200 dancers and artists.

Day 4: Havana - Soroa - Viñales

In the morning leave the hustle and bustle of Havana and head into nature. Drive through the tobacco region towards the province of Pinar del Río. We will stopover in Soroa and visit the Orchid Garden which has over 350 species of orchids. Enjoy a cocktail in the Castillo de las Nubes hotel which offers a wonderful view of the landscape. Afterwards, we will head to Patio Pelegrín, a social program that was created by artist Mario Pelegrín. The program serves children and teenagers by giving them access to artistic creations. They are also given the space to develop their own creativity enabling them to spend their leisure time in a meaningful way. We will then proceed to prepare lunch together with Pelegrín and his team. In the afternoon there will be a drive through the picturesque Viñales valley on the way to the village where time seems to have stood still. Finally, there will be a visit to the Casa de Veguero tobacco drying house. In the afternoon, you will be free to explore the village. Dinner will be served at the Casa Particular.

Day 5: Viñales - Playa Larga

After breakfast enjoy a beautiful ride to the southern coast of the island. On the way, pass by the swamp of Zapata, an area known as the bird corridor. Visit Casa del Zunzún, the private terrace of nature lover Mr. Bernabe. If you’re lucky, you will see different species of birds including the Zunzúncito, the smallest bird in the world and the Tocororo, the national bird. Visit the Cueva de los Peces which is known as the deepest and most beautiful cenote in Cuba. The cenote in this area connects with an extensive system of underwater caves that stretch for more than 30 km from Playa Larga to Caleta El Toro. Later in the afternoon spend the rest of the day on the beach of Playa Larga in the Bay of Pigs or go snorkeling in the beautiful coral reef. Dinner will be served at the Casa Particular.

Day 6: Playa Larga - Cienfuegos - Trinidad 

Morning drive towards central Cuba to Cienfuegos which is the only city in Cuba that was founded by the French. Stroll across the central plaza where the iconic Teatro Terry is found. Afterwards, head to the park "El Nicho" where lunch will be served. After lunch there will be a guided hike through the park to a waterfall which pours over rocks forming small lakes. Feel free to take a dip in the water. After the hike, we will continue to Trinidad which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its unique colonial architecture. Dinner will be served at the Casa Particular.

Day 7: Trinidad - Sugar Mill Valley 

In the morning, there will be a walking tour along the cobblestoned streets, passing the main square which is surrounded by the splendid mansions that once belonged to the city’s sugar barons. Visit Casa del Alfarero to learn about Trinidad’s rich pottery culture. Afterwards enjoy a guided tour through one of the numerous museums in the city. Later, we will drive through the Sugar Mill Valley to the Hacienda Iznaga, home of the former sugar barons. While at the estate, lookout for the beautiful Torre Manaca . Lunch will be served at nearby Finca. If you are looking for a thrill, try out the optional zip lining adventure. Enjoy breath-taking views of the Sugar Mill Valley while gliding along the five zip lines. In the evening you have the opportunity (optional) to experience Trinidad’s charming nightlife scene with live music and dance, e.g. in the “Casa de la Música” or the “Casa de la Trova”.

Day 8: Trinidad - Santa Clara - Varadero / Havana

In the morning we will head to Santa Clara, where Ernesto Che Guevara achieved a memorable victory against Batista’s troops. His memorial and final resting place are found in the city. Visit Che’s Mausoleum and the Tren Blindado (armoured train) from the revolutionary war. Finally, those who opt for a beach extension will head to Varadero while those who don’t will head back to Havana.
