There is nothing quite like a classic motorcycle to wander through the most interesting roads of western and central Cuba. On a modern, powerful Harley, swagger along the streets of Havana and the natural wonders of the community of Las Terrazas, the Viñales Valley and the Zapata Swamps. Discover the city of Cienfuegos, a beacon of modern urban design in the times of colonial Spain, which was founded by the French. In Trinidad, admire one of the best preserved colonial architecture of this hemisphere. Down the road, visit a mausoleum of one of the mythical revolutionaries of the 20th century, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, a Harley’s lover himself, who toured South America on one. End your tour in Varadero, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with two relaxing overnights. Look forward to a fascinating adventure, one that will only get better if you are lucky enough to catch up with one of those crazy-about-old-Harleys Cubans revving along the way.

Day 1: Arrival in Havana

Reception at the airport1 by your English speaking guide and transfer to hotel in Havana. Welcome dinner at Restaurant El Polinesio at Hotel Habana Libre.

Day 2: Havana - Las Terrazas

After breakfast, pick up your bike at Hotel Habana Libre. Set out on a short city tour of Havana, stopping at Plaza de la Revolución, a landmark with an impressive monument of José Marti and wrought-bronze sculptures of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos. Visit also the older part of Havana to wander through its charming little streets and spectacular architecture. After lunch, leave the capital city in west direction. Depending on weather conditions, cruise along the main highway or leisurely enjoy the coastal breeze at the port town of Mariel, where the construction of the biggest free industrial economic zone in Cuba began in 2010. Arrive at Las Terrazas, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, to enjoy the beautiful green landscape.

Day 3: Daytrip “A ride to the mecca of tobacco”

Early in the morning, drive to the tobacco region of San Juan y Martinez, where the world's best tobacco is grown. Visit a typical drying house at a tobacco farm and get all the explanations related to the crop and harvest. Also, see how the leaves are mixed to make a cigar. Continue to Viñales, where the famous mogotes, gigantic limestone cliffs covered in lush green vegetation, are found. Drive through the beautiful valley before returning to Las Terrazas, late in the afternoon.

Day 4: Las Terrazas - Ciénaga de Zapata - Cienfuegos (450 km)

Your day begins with a long drive eastbound onto the highway to Cuba. Stop for a lunch break at the restaurant La Boca de Guamá, in the Zapata Peninsula, a large natural park mainly consisting of marshlands. Visit the 2nd largest crocodile farm in the world and visit the museum Playa Girón, which documents the Bay of Pigs invasion by Cuban exiles, including a collection of weapons used in the battles. Continue to Cienfuegos, a modern colonial city founded by French settlers. Take the beautiful seafront avenue down to Palacio del Valle, an eclectic palace with a spellbinding love story and a fascinating view.

Day 5: Cienfuegos - Trinidad (80 km) 

In the morning, city tour of Cienfuegos. After lunch, continue to Trinidad, one of the first 7 Spanish villas founded in Cuba, which was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to a well-preserved colonial architecture. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 6: Trinidad

Day at leisure. Your guide will offer some programme suggestions. None of the activities offered are included in the price. 

Suggestion for today´s programme (without the Harley bikes): Early departure up the scenic winding road to Topes de Collantes. Past coffee plantations, enjoy the wild landscape of Sierra del Escambray. Continue by jeep, escorted by a local guide, to the starting point of the trail. Hike2 among the vibrant local flora and fauna. Depending on the trail, possibility to take a refreshing dip in a natural pool, under a waterfall. Rustic lunch at Finca La Gallega, in the midst of an exuberant nature. Late in the afternoon, drive back to Trinidad. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner at own expense. Enjoy a romantic night-life listening to traditional music and dancing at Casa de la Música, near the main square.

Day 7: Trinidad - Santa Clara - Varadero (330 km) 

Along the foothills of the Escambray mountain range, head for the historic city of Santa Clara, in the centre of the island. It was here that the internationally-known guerrilla fighter Ernesto “Ché” Guevara fought the decisive battle for the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Visit the mausoleum3, where his remains are displayed along with the rest of fallen the members of his guerrilla in Bolivia. After lunch, continue to Varadero.

Day 8: Varadero

The world-famous beach of Varadero is located on the 20 km-long peninsula Hicacos, on the north coast of Cuba. With white sand and a turquoise blue water, Varadero remains the most famous beach in Cuba. Day at leisure at the hotel to enjoy the Caribbean sun.

Day 9: Varadero - Havana

Enjoy a ride through one of the most scenic roads in Cuba: La Vía Blanca. Bordering the north coast, the ocean draws an endless horizon, creating a perfect backdrop for a Harley ride. Past Matanzas city, after crossing by various bridges and neighbourhoods, arrive in Havana by noon. Return the Harleys at the HARD ROAD clubhouse. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Havana.

Day 10: Havana

In the morning, time for shopping or buying souvenirs. Around noon, check-out and transfer (depending on flight time) to Havana airport. For guests with a beach extension in Varadero there is the possibility to book a private transfer from Havana to Varadero (please see Caribbean Tours rates).


Services Included:

  • Round trip with motorcycles of the brand Harley Davidson, accompanied by a mechanic and a car for the luggage (if the group consists of more than 3 people. By groups of 1-3 people limited luggage can be carried on a trike).
  • Transfer Havana airport to hotel Havana and transfer back to Havana airport if the transfer is on the last day of the roundtrip. If that is not the case, transfers have to be booked separately.
  • Excursions, sightseeing and entrance fees according to the program  A third party liability insurance.
  • An insurance against damages over 1000 usd.
  • Cuban liability insurance: the Cuban service provider assumes the collision liability with a deterrent fee of 1,500 US.
  • During the roundtrip day 1 - 10 English speaking Cuban guide. (Due to possible guide shortage, the airport transfer might be carried out by a Caribbean Tours representative.)
