Day 1: Arrival in Havana

Reception and greeting at the airport and transfer to the Casa Particular, where our warm hosts will receive us.

Day 2: Havana

After breakfast, hop on a cocotaxi to go from downtown Havana to Old Havana. Stroll through the streets and alleys taking in icons, such as the Arms Square, El Templete, the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, the Cathedral Square, the Old Square and the Bodeguita del Medio, watering hole of American writer Ernest Hemingway. After lunch (not included), enjoy a ride in a 1950s American classic car to the Morro Castle, along the famous Malecón, all the way to the neighbourhood of Vedado. Then, after a safety briefing, pick up your e-bike at the Caribbean Tours office for a tour of modern Havana. Your first stop will be the Revolution Square, where the greatest demonstrations in Cuba have taken place. Admire the imposing José Martí sculpture and “Che” Guevara’s gigantic headshot silhouette wrought in bronze. Continue along the legendary Christopher Columbus cemetery, cross the bridge over the Almendares River and meander through the residential neighbourhood of Miramar to appreciate the magnificent mansions of the old bourgeois families. Later, transfer to your casa particular.

Day 3: Havana – San Juan y Martinez - Viñales

The tobacco route takes you to Pinar del Río, the greenest of all Cuban provinces, blessed with the best soil for tobacco in the world and spectacular limestone formations called mogotes. Visit a tobacco farm where you will be able to appreciate the entire process, from the cultivation of the crop, to the treatment of the leaves, to the rolling of the cigars. Enjoy a typical Cuban lunch and, after coffee, you will have the opportunity to light one of the exquisite puros made in house. Later, continue on e-bike across the city of Pinar del Río and onto the mountainous road leading to the stunning Viñales Valley. The valley and its iconic mogotes, home to a rich biota, will welcome you to the town, just a few kilometres ahead, where your casa particular accommodation awaits.

Day 4: Viñales - Cayo Jutías - Viñales

In the morning, the excursion to Cajo Jutías, a small island in the north coast of the province of Pinar del Río, famous for its white-sand beach, begins. Leave Viñales by a sinuous road, across mogotes and fields where farmers and oxen can be seen labouring. Once at the shore, take a 14 km embankment leading to the heavenly island of Cayo Jutías. Free time to bathe. Lunch (not included) can be had directly at the beach. Well into the afternoon, return to Viñales by bus.

Day 5: Viñales - Fierro - Las Terrazas

After breakfast, proceed to the National Park La Guira, passing by Los Portales Cave, headquarters of Argentinian guerrilla fighter Ernesto “Che” Guevara during the Missile Crisis. Amidst the natural environment, enjoy some refreshments. At the national park, admire the various stone sculptures in harmony with the green natural setting. Hit the road back on your e-bike down to the highway, along paths untouched by tourism. Get on the bus to continue to Las Terrazas Ecological Reserve, where your Moka Hotel is found. This environmentally friendly hotel, at the heart of a community created to support a forestry project, was designed to integrate into the landscape. The surrounding forest hills are ideal to relax and stroll around leisurely. In a unique atmosphere, learn about the various community projects.

Day 6: Las Terrazas

A full day to enjoy pure nature and fresh air. After breakfast, explore the forest of the Biosphere Reserve on your e-bike. Visit the remains of an old coffee estate, then take a refreshing dip in the San Juan River. Drop off your e-bike to enjoy the afternoon at leisure. You might want to do a canopy excursion or a boat tour on the lake. Dinner at El Romero (subject to availability), one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Cuba.

Day 7: Las Terrazas - Australia - Playa Larga

Depart for Central Cuba on the bus along the highway. En route, stop at the old sugar mill Australia, where you will be introduced to the sugar cane industry in Cuba. Continue on your e-bike across the National Park Ciénaga de Zapata, a marshland known for its rich birdlife, along Bay of Pigs up to your casa particular in Playa Larga. Your homestay is at a quiet coastal village inhabited by humble people and few tourists, who seek authentic experiences. In the afternoon, time at leisure to explore the community and enjoy the beach.

Day 8: Playa Larga - Caleta Buena - Cienfuegos

For e-bikers, the seaside road of Bay of Pigs is particularly fun to go along. It runs between the sea and the dense vegetation of the swamps, linking interesting places, such as la Cueva de los Peces, the largest cenote in Cuba, Punta Perdiz, a heavenly diving spot, and Playa Girón, battleground of the infamous CIA-supported invasion in 1961. At the latter, visit the local museum to learn about the historic clash through an exhibition that includes a plane used in the battle. For the final stretch of your e-bike tour head to Caleta Buena, a gorgeous place along the sea, where your lunch will be set up. After a short break, proceed to Cienfuegos on the bus. The “Pearl of the South” was founded by the French and features a modern urban layout and fascinating neoclassical architecture.

Day 9: Cienfuegos - Trinidad

Your day begins with a tour of the centre of the city of Cienfuegos on e-bike. Then head for the city of Trinidad, famous for its well preserved colonial architecture. To your left, appreciate the Escambray Mountain Range, where the National Park Topes de Collantes is. Lunch break at La Vega estate, where you will savour traditional dishes while enjoying the exuberant nature. Proceed along the panoramic seaside road to Trinidad, crossing over rivers. At the end of a steep hill, a sign indicates you have arrived to your destination: welcome to Trinidad!  Here, hundreds of homestays allow you to live with Cuban families. Welcome and check in at your casa particular. In the evening, explore the Trinitarian nightlife enjoying live music and dance at Casa de la Música or Casa de la Trova (optional).

Day 10: Trinidad

Morning walk through the oldest part of the city, which is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Start at the Plaza Mayor, surrounded by magnificent houses and an old church. Wander along cobblestone streets through craft markets and small squares. Visit a museum showcasing objects that tell the story of the city and indulge your palate with a traditional cocktail. In the afternoon, get on your e-bike for a 11 km transfer to Ancón beach, where you will have the opportunity to relax, swim and sunbathe.

Day 11: Trinidad - Sancti Spíritus

First stop on your e-bike today is the Sugar Mills Valley, where tens of sugar mills sprung up in the 19th century. Manaca-Iznaga is one of them; and its bell tower is an architectural symbol of the region, one that reminisces about the dark times of slavery. Continue to Sancti Spíritus, the capital city and namesake of the province; one of the first seven Spanish villas founded in Cuba. To best take in the colonial atmosphere, your homestay will be situated near the centre of the city. In the evening, stroll along the Yayabo bridge, an architectural landmark not to be missed.

Day 12: Sancti Spíritus - Remedios - Cayo Las Brujas

Leave on the bus for the town of Placetas, well off the traditional touristic routes. From there, e-bike through rural roads to Remedios, one of the oldest cities in Cuba. Once at the main square, learn about the Parrandas Remedianas, one of the most popular celebrations on the island, which takes place every year at Christmas. Back to your bus, set out on a trip along a causeway to a beautiful beach in Cayo Las Brujas for your last overnight of the tour.

Day 13: Cayo Las Brujas - Varadero - Havana

After breakfast, head to Havana via Varadero. The transfer takes several hours. For those wanting more time at the beach, an extension in Cayo Santa María or Varadero is possible.


Important: Timely connection to an international return flight cannot be guaranteed, therefore, we do not recommend booking an international flight on the same day that the tour ends. It is advisable to book an extra night.

Our e-bikes

We are very proud of the great e-bikes we have! Cuba does not have bike shops, so, buying and maintaining bikes is one of the many challenges for cyclists in Cuba. Our e-bikes are all imported from Germany. We have chosen the Corratec E-Power for your trip, a trekking e-bike with a Bosch Active Motor, which is easy to ride and can handle Cuba’s potholes and rough tarmac. The 28’’ wheels, 4 support grades and 8 gears makes it the perfect bike to get you up the Cuban hills. Front fork suspension absorbs the bumps of the rough tarmac.
