This varied itinerary provides a perfect overview of the entire island, not too long and not too short, with all relevant highlights and the perfect possibility to extend the trip in the beach regions of Guardalavaca or Varadero. Discover the island from west to east, explore all the main cities and natural areas and relax at the beach in Santa Lucía to process the impressions: the vibrant Havana, the tobacco landscape of Pinar del Rio, colonial world heritage sites like Trinidad and Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba, capital of the rhythm.

Day 1: Arrival in Havana 

Welcome at Havana airport. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner at own expense.

Day 2: Colonial Havana and the Flair of the 50s

Going back in time is possible especially if the destination is Havana’s golden era: the 50s. Take a seat and enjoy a ride in a beautiful artifact that has roamed the streets of Havana for decades: a classic American car. Ride through the town in style like a mafia boss from the past and enjoy a panoramic tour that will take you past Plaza de la Revolution and Bosque de La Habana before heading to residential neighborhoods including the artistic hub: Nuevo Vedado and the exclusive Miramar neighborhood. Finally head along the iconic Malecón promenade. Learn how the ingenious Cuban people conserve their American classics during your visit to a workshop where mechanics find unique solutions to complex problems. Later, in true Al Capone style enjoy a cocktail while relaxing on the patio of the Hotel National before heading to Old Havana for lunch. In the afternoon, with renewed energy, stroll across the 4 plazas and marvel at the architecture which spans 5 centuries.

Day 3: Havana – Vueltabajo – Viñales (260 km)

A perfect evening cannot come to an end in Havana without a good cigar. After breakfast, we will head towards the area that makes the best tobaccos in the world: Vueltabajo. In order to gain insights from an expert, visit Finca Quemado del Rubi owned by Hector Luis who is considered to be one of the best tobacco producers in Cuba. He was also the winner of the prestigious Havana man award in 2008. Over the years family tradition has helped shape the Finca’s cultivation techniques. Years of perfecting their trade has allowed them to produce their premium cigars which have been smoked by great personalities all around the world. Don’t miss the chance to try one of their prized cigars after traditional lunch at the Finca. In the afternoon head towards Viñales, the picturesque town which is comfortably nestled in the Viñales valley famous for its limestone mogotes. Before reaching the town, stop at the Mirador de los Jazmine to marvel at one of the most beautiful landscapes that the Caribbean island has to offer.

Day 4: Viñales – Soroa – Havana (210 km)

Continue taking in the island’s beautiful nature during your stop in Soroa to visit that largest orchid garden in Cuba. The Soroa garden, which spans 35,000m 2, is home to over 20,000 orchids. The garden which was created as space to conserve Cuba’s orchids is a haven for nature lovers. While in Soroa take a short walk to see the 22 meter high Soroa waterfalls. The falls are also known as Cuba’s Rainbow due to the way the water cascades over the rocks and they are considered to be one of the many wonders of Cuban geography. In the afternoon, continue towards the capital where you will get a chance to stay in a Casa Particular in an authentic neighbourhood to experience the local way of life.

Day 5: Havana - Cienfuegos - Trinidad (350 km)

Early morning departure towards the waterfront city of Cienfuegos. Upon arrival in the town stroll through the city’s main park and see Teatro Terry one of the most elegant and eclectic buildings in the city. After lunch in a renowned Paladar stroll along the Cienfuegos promenade to the Punta Gorda peninsula. As you arrive at the bay, the impressive architectural jewel: Palacio de Valle will come into sight. The unique building is reminiscent of Spanish-Moorish art with Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque influences. In the evening continue towards the colonial city of Trinidad.

Day 6: Trinidad

Trinidad embodies the spirit of the 19th century. The city’s wide cobblestone streets, its grand squares and stately mansions with tiled roofs are symbols of the city’s golden era. Today we will unearths the gems which make Trinidad a World Heritage Site including the Romantic Museum and the former mansion of the wealthy Brunet family which houses many unique antiques. Stroll through the Plaza Mayor and see the Catholic Church which has beautiful colonial doors. In addition to Trinidad’s architectural legacy the city which is also famous for its unique embroidery and crafts was recently declared a World Craft City. Visit an embroidery workshop and a sculpting studio. Don’t pass up the opportunity to acquire a beautiful sculpture to take home. Finally, enjoy authentic Trinitarian cuisine in a well-known Paladar.

Day 7: Trinidad - Valle de los Ingenios - Camagüey - Santa Lucía (400 km)

After breakfast head towards the day’s first stop: the sugar mill valley. The valley which was the industrial backbone of Trinidad’s splendor used to be home to numerous impressive and advanced sugar mills. While in the valley visit the Iconic Torre Manaca before continue to the city of the clay jugs: Camaguey. Camaguey was built with asymmetric and windy alleyways in order to confuse the pirates who frequently looted the town. Enjoy a walk through the city center before heading towards the beautiful beach in Santa Lucia.

Day 8: Santa Lucía  

Take the day to relax and enjoy the sun and the warm sea. The Santa Lucia beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cuba. It is well known for its white sand and coral reef which allows for the conservation of a wide variety of fish and marine flora. It truly is a gem for underwater diving and surface fishing.

Day 9: Santa Lucía – Bayamo – El Cobre – Santiago de Cuba (310 km)

In the morning we will head towards Bayamo which is located in the eastern province of Granma. The city which is famous for its horse-drawn carriages is also where the national anthem was written. Upon arrival, enjoy a short tour of the city’s central park and learn why the city is considered to be the cradle of the nation. We will then continue to the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Caridad de Cobre. Cachita as she is often known is considered to be the patroness of Cuba. As a saint Cachita has been the object of worship of Cubans from different strata’s of society. While in the church learn about famous Cuban stars and athletes who have dedicated their triumphs to the patroness. While exiting the church you will see vendors selling souvenirs made with locally sourced elements including earth from the old copper mines. Afterwards we will head towards the second largest city in Cuba: Santiago de Cuba.

Day 10: Santiago de Cuba – The Caribbean heat 

Today you will get the opportunity to explore the island’s most eastern City. The city is famous for producing the best rum in Cuba and for being a mix of Caribbean traditions. Visit the city’s main attractions which include the Santa Ifigenia cemetery which is the final resting place for various important Cuban figures including national hero Jose Marti, the leader of the of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro and the famous musician Compay el Segundo. Afterwards visit el Museo del Rum where you will get a chance to learn about the history of rum production in Cuba. While in the museum enjoy a glass of the traditional drink. Later, stroll through el Parque Cespedes which is in the center of the city before heading to Fort San Pedro de la Roca where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the bay of Santiago. Hop on a ferry to get to a restaurant in Cayo Granma to have lunch right in the middle of the unique bay of Santiago.

Day 11: Santiago de Cuba - Guardalavaca (220 km)

After breakfast, there will be a 2-hour (approx.) transfer to the hotel in Guardalavaca which in Holguin. This will be the end of the trip. There will be a transfer to the airport in Holguin for clients who have an evening flight to Havana or to Europe.  (B)


(Connection to an international flight cannot be guaranteed due to the frequent schedule changes of domestic flights. We do not recommend booking an international flight on the same day as the domestic flight. An additional night in between flights is highly recommended.)

  • Transfer Havana airport to hotel Havana if the transfer is on the first day of the round trip. If not, the transfers have to be booked separately.
  • For beach extensions in the regions of Holguin or Guardalavaca on Day 11, transfer from Santiago de Cuba to beach hotel. In this case, no more services are included afterwards.
  • Excursions, sightseeing and entrance fees according to the program.
  • During the roundtrip days 1 - 11 English-speaking local guide. Other languages on request at the same price. (Due to possible guide shortages, the airport transfer might be carried out by a Caribbean Tours representative).
  • 10 overnight stays in the mentioned accommodations (according to availability).
